Stellar Growth by Disk Accretion: The Effect of Disk Irradiation on the Protostellar Evolution
Young stars are expected to gain most of their mass by accretion from a disk that forms around them as a result of angular momentum conservation in the collapsing protostellar cloud. Accretion initially proceeds at high rates of 10^{-6}-10^{-5} M_Sun/yr resulting in strong irradiation of the stellar surface by the hot inner portion of the disk and ...

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

We present a study of the abundance of calcium in the innermost disk of 70 T Tauri stars in the star-forming regions of Chamaeleon I, Lupus, and Orion OB1b. We use calcium as a proxy for the refractory material that reaches the inner disk.

The Dispersal of Planet-forming discs: Theory confronts Observations
Discs of gas and dust around Myr-old stars are a by-product of the star formation process and provide the raw material to form planets. Hence, their evolution and dispersal directly impact what type of planets can form and affect the final architecture ...

Wind accretion by a binary stellar system and disc formation [PDF]
I calculate the specific angular momentum of mass accreted by a binary system embedded in the dense wind of a mass losing asymptotic giant branch star. The accretion flow is of the Bondi-Hoyle-Lyttleton type. For most of the relevant parameters space the flow is basically an isothermal high Mach number accretion flow. I find that when the orbital plane

A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Probing the History of the Galaxy Assembly of the Counterrotating Disk Galaxy PGC 66551
Stellar counterrotation in disk galaxies directly relates to the complex phenomenon of the disk mass assembly believed to be driven by external processes, such as accretion and mergers.

Micro‐injection laser‐assisted bioprinting enables ultrafast and precise patterning of small endothelial cell spheroids by injecting a highly concentrated single‐cell suspension into GelMA/ColMA hydrogels. In co‐culture with fibroblasts, controlled pre‐vasculogenic network formation is obtained at microscale resolution.

Properties of Circum(sub)stellar Accretion Disks
We have completed a systematic survey for disks around young brown dwarfs and very low mass stars. By choosing a well-defined sample and by obtaining sensitive thermal IR observations, we can make an unbiased measurement of the disk fraction around such low mass objects.
