Influence of stellar variability on the determination of the radius during a transit of an exoplanet
Stellar variability can affect the estimate of an exoplanet radius measured during a transit. We developed a transit light curve model which includes stellar spots.

Microlensing of Extended Stellar Sources [PDF]
We investigate the feasibility of reconstructing the radial intensity profile of extended stellar sources by inverting their microlensed light curves. Using a simple, linear, limb darkening law as an illustration, we show that the intensity profile can ...

Dimension in a Radiative Stellar Atmosphere [PDF]
Dimensional scales are examined in an extended 3+1 Vaidya atmosphere surrounding a Schwarzschild source. At one scale, the Vaidya null fluid vanishes and the spacetime contains only a single spherical 2-surface.

Stellar atmosphere parameters with MAx, a MAssive compression of x^2 for spectral fitting [PDF]
MAx is a new tool to estimate parameters from stellar spectra. It is based on the maximum likelihood method, with the likelihood compressed in a way that the information stored in the spectral fluxes is conserved.

The Inhomogeneity Effect. I. Inhomogeneous Surface and Atmosphere Accelerate Planetary Cooling
We propose a general principle that under radiative-convective equilibrium, the spatial and temporal variations in a planet’s surface and atmosphere tend to increase its cooling.

Transit spectroscopy is one of the most commonly used techniques for exoplanet atmosphere characterisation. This technique has been used to detect ionized and neutral species in exoplanet atmospheres by comparing the observed stellar lines in and out of ...

Radial modes of levitating atmospheres around Eddington-luminosity neutron stars [PDF]
We consider an optically thin radiation-supported levitating atmosphere suspended well above the stellar surface, as discussed recently in the Schwarzschild metric for a star of luminosity close to the Eddington value.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Computing Limb-darkening Coefficients from Stellar Atmosphere Models [PDF]
We explore the sensitivity of limb-darkening coefficients computed from stellar atmosphere models to different least-squares fitting methods. We demonstrate that conventional methods are strongly biased to fitting the stellar limb.
