The Inner and Outer Shock Layers of Bow Shocks in Cataclysmic Variables

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Bow shocks around cataclysmic variables (CVs) have traditionally been identified with a single bright optical arc. This feature has been interpreted as the bow shock formed by the interaction between a sustained outflow and the interstellar medium (ISM).

Rapid Proteome‐Wide Discovery of Protein–Protein Interactions With ppIRIS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ppIRIS is a lightweight deep learning framework for proteome‐wide protein–protein interaction prediction directly from sequence. By fusing evolutionary and structural embeddings with a regularized Siamese architecture, ppIRIS achieves state‐of‐the‐art accuracy across species, enables minute‐scale screening, and reveals biologically validated bacterial ...

Discovery of a Bow-shock Nebula Around the Z Cam-type Cataclysmic Variable SY Cancri

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We report the serendipitous discovery of a bow-shock nebula around the cataclysmic variable (CV) SY Cancri. In addition, SY Cnc lies near the edge of a faint H α -emitting nebula with a diameter of about $15^{\prime} $ .

Modeling nonthermal emission from stellar bow shocks (Research Note) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Context. Runaway O- and early B-type stars passing through the interstellar medium at supersonic velocities and characterized by strong stellar winds may produce bow shocks that can serve as particle acceleration sites. Previous theoretical models predict the production of high-energy photons by nonthermal radiative processes, but their efficiency is ...

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

Two More Bow Shocks and Off-center Hα Nebulae Associated with Nova-like Cataclysmic Variables

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We report discoveries of bow-shock nebulae, seen in H α and [O iii ] λ 5007, around two cataclysmic variables (CVs): LS Pegasi and ASASSN-V J205457.73+515731.9 (ASASJ2054).

IRC-10414: a bow-shock-producing red supergiant star

open access: yes, 2013
Most runaway OB stars, like the majority of massive stars residing in their parent clusters, go through the red supergiant (RSG) phase during their lifetimes.

The VLT-FLAMES Tarantula Survey IV: Candidates for isolated high-mass star formation in 30 Doradus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Whether massive stars can occasionally form in relative isolation or if they require a large cluster of lower-mass stars around them is a key test in the differentiation of star formation theories as well as how the initial mass function of stars is ...

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.

Pyroptosis‐Inducing Engineered Microparticles for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Engineered microparticles co‐delivering geldanamycin and dual nanobodies induce targeted pyroptosis and block PD‐L1 and CD47 pathways, reprogramming the tumor microenvironment and achieving potent antitumor immunity in lung cancer models with minimal toxicity.
