Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Bridging the Prandtl Number Gap: 3D Simulations of Thermohaline Convection in Astrophysical Regimes
Thermohaline convection (also known as fingering convection or thermohaline mixing) occurs in stellar radiation zones where a sufficient inversion of the mean molecular weight is present.

Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Red-giant Asteroseismology of Low-mass Population III Stars
Low-mass stars from the first epoch of star formation may still persist in the Milky Way and its satellite dwarf galaxies today; however, their detection is confounded by surface pollution from interstellar accretion and internal mixing, which obscure ...
