Molecular Gas in Elliptical Galaxies: Distribution and Kinematics

open access: yes, 2002
I present interferometric images (approx. 7" resolution) of CO emission in five elliptical galaxies and nondetections in two others. These data double the number of elliptical galaxies whose CO emission has been fully mapped.

Late-type galaxies observed with SAURON. Two-dimensional stellar and emission-line kinematics of 18 spirals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present the stellar and gas kinematics of a sample of 18 nearby late-type spiral galaxies (Hubble types ranging from Sb to Sd), observed with the integral-field spectrograph SAURON at the 4.2-m William Herschel Telescope.

Stellar 3D kinematics in the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2019
Aims. We present the first three-dimensional internal motions for individual stars in the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Methods. By combining first-epoch Hubble Space Telescope observations and second-epoch Gaia Data Release 2 positions, we measured the

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

Confirmation of an Anomalously Low Dark Matter Content for the Galaxy NGC 1052-DF4 from Deep, High-resolution Continuum Spectroscopy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
NGC 1052-DF4 was found to be the second “galaxy lacking dark matter” in the NGC 1052 group, based on its velocity dispersion of ${\sigma }_{\mathrm{gc}}={4.2}_{-2.2}^{+4.4}$ km s ^−1 as measured from the radial velocities of seven of its globular ...

Nuclear angular momentum of early-type galaxies hosting nuclear star clusters

open access: yes, 2019
Nucleation is a common phenomenon in all types of galaxies and at least 70% of them host nuclear star clusters (NSCs) in their centres. Many of the NSCs co-habit with super-massive black holes and follow similar scaling relations with host galaxy ...

Large-Scale Model of the Milky Way: Stellar Kinematics and Microlensing Event Timescale Distribution in the Galactic Bulge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We build a stellar-dynamical model of the Milky Way barred bulge and disk, using a newly implemented adaptive particle method. The underlying mass model has been previously shown to match the Galactic near-infrared surface brightness as well as gas ...

Texoskeletons: Developing the Fundamental Technologies for Creating Intelligent Soft Robotic Clothing With Integrated 1D Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.
