Fast Neutron Detector Based on Hybrid 2D Perovskite Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the direct detection of fast neutrons using flexible hybrid 2D perovskite (PEA2PbBr4) thin‐film detectors. Thanks to their high low‐Z elements content and good charge transport, these materials enable efficient neutron detection. The thin film configuration allowed the operation at low voltage, and offer scalability, flexibility, and

Connecting Cores and Black Hole Dynamics across Scales: From Globular Clusters to Massive Ellipticals

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The centers of massive elliptical galaxies exhibit a wide range in density profiles, from central cusps to resolved cores with order kiloparsec sizes.

Starburst-AGN Connection: A Lesson from High-z Powerful Radio Galaxies

open access: yes, 2004
Powerful radio galaxies at high redshift are highly useful in studies of early evolution of AGN-hosting galaxies because their observed optical and near infrared light are dominated by their stellar population rather than the nonthermal continuum emitted

Can stellar mass black holes be quark stars? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the possibility that stellar mass black holes, with masses in the range of $3.8M_{\odot}$ and $6M_{\odot}$, respectively, could be in fact quark stars in the Color-Flavor-Locked (CFL) phase.

Dynamical evolution of stellar mass black holes in dense stellar clusters: estimate for merger rate of binary black holes originating from globular clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have performed N-body simulations of globular clusters (GCs) in order to estimate a detection rate of mergers of Binary stellar-mass Black Holes (BBHs) by means of gravitational wave (GW) observatories.

Plasma‐Treated Hydrogel for Combined RONS and Chemotherapy Delivery: A Proof‐of‐Concept In Ovo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores plasma‐treated hydrogels (PTH) as a new way to deliver both reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and chemotherapy (Doxorubicin) directly to tumors. In ovo tests show effects after a single dose, especially in osteosarcoma tumors. Tumor weight decrease, and a resistance‐related protein is reduced.

Which Black Hole Is Spinning? Probing the Origin of Black Hole Spin with Gravitational Waves

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Theoretical studies of angular momentum transport suggest that isolated stellar-mass black holes are born with negligible dimensionless spin magnitudes χ ≲ 0.01.

The Most Massive Black Holes in the Universe: Effects of Mergers in Massive Galaxy Clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Recent observations support the idea that nuclear black holes grew by gas accretion while shining as luminous quasars at high redshift, and they establish a relation of the black hole mass with the host galaxy's spheroidal stellar system.

A SWIFT SURVEY OF ACCRETION ONTO STELLAR-MASS BLACK HOLES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a systemic analysis of all of the stellar-mass black hole binaries (confirmed and candidate) observed by the Swift observatory up to 2010 June.
