Surface brightness fluctuation spectra to constrain stellar population properties [PDF]
ABSTRACT We present a new set of surface brightness fluctuation (SBF) spectra computed with the E-MILES stellar population synthesis models. The model SBF spectra cover the range λλ1680–50 000 at moderately high resolution, all based on extensive empirical stellar libraries.

Stellar haloes of disc galaxies at z~1
Taking advantage of the ultra-deep near-infrared imaging obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope on the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, we detect and explore for the first time the properties of the stellar haloes of two Milky Way-like galaxies at z~1. We find

The stellar ‘Snake’ – I. Whole structure and properties
ABSTRACT To complement our previous discovery of the young snake-like structure in the solar neighbourhood and reveal the structure’s full extent, we build two samples of stars within the Snake and its surrounding territory from Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3).

Accurately characterizing the intrinsic stellar photometric noise induced by stellar astrophysics, such as stellar activity, granulation, and oscillations, is of crucial importance for detecting transiting exoplanets.

We use a high resolution collisionless simulation of a Virgo--like cluster in a $\Lambda$CDM cosmology to determine the velocity and clustering properties of the diffuse stellar component in the intracluster region at the present epoch.

ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Blue large-amplitude pulsators (BLAPs) are a recently discovered group of hot pulsating stars whose evolutionary status remains uncertain. Their proposed progenitors are either ≃0.3 M _⊙ shell H-burning stars or ≃1.0 M _⊙ core He-burning stars, both ...

Spatially resolved stellar-to-total dynamical mass relation
Context. In our standard cosmological model, galaxy assembly is inherently linked to the hierarchical growth of dark matter halos, which provide the gravitational framework in which highly complex baryonic processes unfold.

Revealing the Galaxy–Halo Connection through Machine Learning
Understanding the connections between galaxy stellar mass, star formation rate, and dark matter halo mass represents a key goal of the theory of galaxy formation. Cosmological simulations that include hydrodynamics, physical treatments of star formation,
