Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Photometric magnetic-activity metrics tested with the Sun: application to Kepler M dwarfs
The Kepler mission has been providing high-quality photometric data leading to many breakthroughs in the exoplanet search and in stellar physics. Stellar magnetic activity results from the interaction between rotation, convection, and magnetic field ...

Massive stellar cannibals: How stellar mergers drive mass loss in extremely massive stars
Context. It has been theorized that the formation of extremely massive and supermassive stars (> 103 M⊙) could plausibly be the outcome of stellar mergers in low metallicity (Z 1000 M⊙ with inspiraling companions of < 100 M⊙; hence, with mass ratios of <

Some Remarks on Stellar Pulsation [PDF]
AbstractI wondered at first why I had been asked to perform the task of commenting on the scientific discussion of this meeting, until a member of the Scientific Organising Committee pointed out to me that I have not published a serious paper on the subject of the colloquium in his memory (I am not sure whether this is more a statement of the ...

β Pictoris: Planets and Pulsations
The A5 dwarf star β Pictoris has been subject of numerous studies because it addresses several questions of stellar astrophysics, like stellar evolution, circumstellar disks, planet formation and pulsations.

Internal rapid rotation and its implications for stellar structure and pulsations
Massive and intermediate mass stars play a crucial role in astrophysics. Indeed, massive stars are the main producers of heavy elements, explode in supernovae at the end of their short lifetimes, and may be the progenitors of gamma ray bursts ...

Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a cornerstone therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but the weight‐based dosing does not account for clinical factors that can introduce individual variability in drug metabolism and clearance. We leveraged longitudinal data from a prospective SLE cohort to identify clinical factors that predict ...

A planet orbiting an sdB star and an M dwarf in 2M 1938+4603
We present a preliminary analysis of the 2M 1938+4603 star. It is an eclipsing binary system consisting of a primary sdB component and a secondary M dwarf. The photometric data are dominated by mutual eclipses and a very strong reflection effect.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
