Impact of Digestate-Derived Nitrogen on Nutrient Content Dynamics in Winter Oilseed Rape Before Flowering

open access: yesAgronomy
The increase in biogas production has caused a simultaneous increase in the production of digestate, which is a valuable carrier of nutrients in crop plant production.

A tale of two Ethiopian aloes: Aloe jacksonii & A. elkerriana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aloe jacksonii and A. elkerriana are narrow Ethiopian endemics and although they apparently comes from the same locality they are not closely related. Aloe elkerriana is a much larger growing and more vigorous plant than A.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 2001
Within the bone marrow stroma there exists a subset of nonhematopoietic cells referred to as mesenchymal stem or mesenchymal progenitor cells. These cells can be ex vivo expanded and induced, either in vitro or in vivo, to terminally differentiate into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, adipocytes, tenocytes, myotubes, neural cells, and hematopoietic ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Risk management and the stratification of logistics service provision [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper stems from a research project undertaken between 2007 and 2010. It discusses the development of supply chain management together with the understanding of the impact of supply chain risk. It gives an overview of the increasing stratification

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Nestedness in mutualistic networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
James et al. (2012) presented simulations that apparently falsify the analytical result by Bastolla et al. (2009), who showed that nested mutualistic interactions decrease interspecific competition and increase biodiversity in model ecosystems.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Effect of the stage of maturity on the leaf percentage of lucerne and the effect of additives on silage characteristics

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2008
The first part of the study concerns the effect of the stage of maturity on nutrient content and leaf percentage of lucerne (Medicago sativa). The plants of lucerne were harvested and analysed at several stages of growth.
