Stepped-wedge cluster randomised controlled trials : a generic framework including parallel and multiple-level designs [PDF]
Stepped-wedge cluster randomised trials (SW-CRTs) are being used with increasing frequency in health service evaluation. Conventionally, these studies are cross-sectional in design with equally spaced steps, with an equal number of clusters randomised at

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Leveraging Contact Network Structure in the Design of Cluster Randomized Trials [PDF]
Background: In settings like the Ebola epidemic, where proof-of-principle trials have succeeded but questions remain about the effectiveness of different possible modes of implementation, it may be useful to develop trials that not only generate ...

Assessing Mediation in Cross‐Sectional Stepped Wedge Cluster Randomized Trials
ABSTRACT Mediation analysis has been studied for independent data, but relatively little work has been done for correlated data observed under stepped wedge cluster randomized trials (SW‐CRTs). Motivated by the need to understand the effect mechanisms in SW‐CRTs, we develop a set of regression‐based methods for ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Crowdsourcing to promote HIV testing among MSM in China: study protocol for a stepped wedge randomized controlled trial. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: HIV testing for marginalized populations is critical to controlling the HIV epidemic. However, the HIV testing rate among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China remains low. Crowdsourcing, the process of shifting individual tasks to a group,

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.
