A Step-Wedge in the Biochemical Diagnosis of Preeclampsia [PDF]
Preeclampsia, a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy, is one of the leading causes of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Among the reasons for the great global burden of disease is the poor predictive value of high blood pressure and proteinuria (traditional markers for the disease) for related adverse outcomes (1).

Rollout trial designs in implementation research are often necessary and sometimes preferred
Background Rollout designs, which include stepped wedge designs, are defined by staggered implementation of new or alternative programs or services. Critiques of stepped wedge and other rollout designs have raised concerns regarding the confounding of ...

Sample size and power analysis for stepped wedge cluster randomised trials with binary outcomes
In stepped wedge cluster randomised trials (SW-CRTs), clusters of subjects are randomly assigned to sequences, where they receive a specific order of treatments.

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

The prevention and reduction of weight loss in an acute tertiary care setting: Protocol for a pragmatic stepped wedge randomised cluster trial (the PRoWL Project) [PDF]
Background: Malnutrition, with accompanying weight loss, is an unnecessary risk in hospitalised persons and often remains poorly recognised and managed.

Background Overconsumption of energy from food is a major contributor to the high rates of overweight and obesity in many populations. There is growing evidence that interventions that target the food environment may be effective at reducing energy ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Generalizing the information content for stepped wedge designs: A marginal modeling approach
Stepped wedge trials are increasingly adopted because practical constraints necessitate staggered roll‐out. While a complete design requires clusters to collect data in all periods, resource and patient‐centered considerations may call for an incomplete ...
