The physical, chemical, and microbiological stability of chloramphenicol ophthalmic solution

open access: yesLibyan International Medical University Journal, 2018
Aims: The aim of this work is to “predict” the remaining shelf-life of chloramphenicol (CH) eye drops, commercially marketed, using the theoretical “Longland–Rowbotham model,”” followed by confirmation of findings by practical means.

Mitochondrial genetics of alloplasmic male-sterile Brassica napus lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Reliable and economical production of hybrid (F1) varieties requires efficient means to control pollination. The predominant system for pollination control of most field crops today is cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS).

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Interspecies Hybridisation and Genome Chimerisation in Saccharomyces: Combining of Gene Pools of Species and Its Biotechnological Perspectives

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Over the last one and a half decade, interspecies hybridisation has gained continuously increasing attention as a breeding technique suitable for transferring of genetic information between Saccharomyces species and mixing of their gene pools without ...

Forced Sterilization

open access: yesVoices in Bioethics, 2022
Photo by Renè Müller on Unsplash INTRODUCTION Forced sterilization of women around the globe is a human rights violation and bioethical concern. In the past, countries enacted laws to forcibly sterilize women deemed unfit to procreate. Although many of these laws have been retracted, the practice persists under the guise of public health. More recently,

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

A systematic map of studies testing the relationship between temperature and animal reproduction

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
Exposure to extreme temperatures can negatively affect animal reproduction, by disrupting the ability of individuals to produce any offspring (fertility), or the number of offspring produced by fertile individuals (fecundity).

RECONSTRUCTIVE AND STABILIZING ABILITY OF THE MAIZE LINES IN STERILE CYTOPLASM “M” AND “C” TYPES OF CMS

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2019
Seeds of maize hybrids in the Russian Federation are obtained using CMS, therefore it is necessary to transfer the developed hybrids to a sterile basis to introduce them into production. The purpose of the work is to study the reaction of self-pollinated

Reassessing Canonical Attitudes Towards African Marriage Practices Based on a Study of the African Synod [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
