Three‐Component Synthesis of γ‐Amino Esters with α‐Quaternary Carbon Centers via NHC/Photoredox Dual Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
γ‐Amino acid derivatives with an α‐quaternary center are prevalent in medicinally important compounds. A dual N‐heterocyclic carbene/photocatalytic pathway is developed for the three‐component synthesis of α, α ‐disubstituted γ‐amino esters. This methodology allows for the rapid synthesis of diverse libraries of γ‐amino esters in good yields.

Plasmacytoma of the Sternum with Amyloid Deposition – A Cytological Diagnosis

open access: yesArchives of Medicine and Health Sciences
Plasmacytoma with amyloid deposition to be diagnosed on cytology is rare. In the absence of typical clinical presentation and radiological findings, the diagnosis of plasmacytoma may not be suspected.

Photocatalytic Polyene Cyclization to Cyclopentyl Thioethers with Consecutive Quaternary Centers in Fluorinated Alcohols

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
A photocatalytic strategy enables efficient cyclization of polyenes to cyclopentyl thioethers with consecutive all‐carbon quaternary centers. Using 2,4,6‐triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate in 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexafluoroisopropanol, the method proceeds via a thiyl radical mechanism, offering high yields and good diastereoselectivities.

Treatment of Isolated Sternal Fracture with Ultrasound-Guided Paravertebral Nerve Block: a Case Report and Literature Review [PDF]

open access: yesKosin Medical Journal, 2019
In the case of isolated sternal fractures, conservative treatment with analgesics is common, but pain can persist for more than 10 weeks, which can significantly interfere with daily life.

Harnessing Vinylogy with Radicals: Photoinduced γ‐Benzylation Reactions of 2‐Silyloxyfurans

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Two radical‐mediated benzylations of 2‐silyloxyfurans, promoted by visible light and suitable photoredox catalysts have been disclosed. A broad scope of γ‐benzyl butenolides was obtained in one step, some of which were used as strategic precursors to bio‐valuable chiral butanolides.

Integrating Visible‐Light Photocatalysis and Enzymes for the Stereoselective Synthesis of Alcohols and Amines

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The integration between visible‐light photocatalysis and biocatalysis has the potential to greatly improve modern organic synthesis by combining the production of valuable synthetic intermediates under mild photochemical conditions with the high degree of stereoselectivity reached by enzymes. The review collects the recent efforts in the photoenzymatic

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

C(sp3)─S Bond Formation via the Synergy of Oxidative With Reductive Photocatalysts Through Photoredox and Dual Hydrogen Atom Transfer Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The research reveals that polysulfide anions (K2Sx), which serve as reducing catalysts, can also effectively act as sulfur reagents, providing the formation of C(sp3)─S bonds through photoredox catalysis with an oxidative photocatalyst tetrabutylammonium decatungstate (TBADT) and dual hydrogen atom transfer (DHAT) process.

Gross anatomical features of the sternum of green-winged macaw (Ara Chloroptera)

open access: yes, 2015
The present study was conducted on the sternum of an eight year old, male Green-winged Macaw. The sternum was quadrilateral with dorsal concave and ventral convex surfaces and four borders. The dorsal surface presented numerous pneumatic foramina.
