Strain degeneration in mushroom cultivation can lead to significant commercial losses, yet the genetic factors remain elusive. This study identified the sterol O-acyltransferase gene, Cmare2, which is associated with colony sectorization in Cordyceps militaris, using a T-DNA insertion-mutant library.

A new piperazine derivative designated helvamide was isolated as a pair of rotamers (1 and 2) from the culture broth of the fungus Aspergillus nidulans BF-0142 along with a known helvafuranone (3). The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated based on spectroscopic analyses by the interpretation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic ...

Insulin resistance induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) is related to metabolic diseases, and sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) is a key enzyme for the biosynthesis of cholesteryl ester. In the present study, wild-type (WT) mice and SOAT1-knockout (KO) mice with a C57BL6 background fed a HFD were used to explore the role of SOAT1 in the hypothalamus.

Voluhemins, new inhibitors of sterol O-acyltransferase, produced by Volutella citrinella BF-0440
The Journal of Antibiotics, 2020New compounds, designated voluhemins A (1) and B (2), are isolated from the culture broth of the fungal strain Volutella citrinella BF-0440 along with structurally related known NK12838 (3). Spectroscopic data, including 1D and 2D NMR, elucidated their structures. Compounds 1-3 have a common indoline-diterpene core and two additional isoprenyl moieties.

Pseudopyronine B, an inhibitor of sterol O-acyltransferase, produced by Pseudomonas sp. BYK11209 [PDF]
The enzyme sterol O-acyltransferase (SOAT, also known as acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT)), an endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein, has important roles in cholesterol regulation in humans.1 SOAT is expected to be a promising target for the development of new anti-atherosclerotic agents.

Background Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive malignancy with very limited treatment options. Nevanimibe HCl (formerly ATR-101), a novel adrenal-specific sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) inhibitor, has been shown in nonclinical studies to decrease adrenal steroidogenesis at lower doses and to cause apoptosis of adrenocortical ...
