Development of surface dynamic mechanical analysis tests for TPU materials [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2010
The stick-slip behaviour of elastomers plays an extremely important role under service relevant loading conditions in many tribological applications. In a number of practical situations, the friction instability (stick-slip) causes negative influence on ...

Dynamic Model and Quantitative Analysis of Stick-Slip Vibration in Horizontal Well

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Stick-slip is very harmful to the service life of drillstring. The extended Hamilton principle is applied in the paper. Then, finite element method (FEM) is employed to describe the model.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Research on Stick-slip Vibration Level Estimation of Drillstring Based on SVM

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
To evaluate the severity of stick-slip vibration of drill string, a risk assessment method based on factor analysis (FA) and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed.

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Probing tribological evolution in atomically thin MoS2 at different scales

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology
Atomic-scale stick–slip motion and the nanoscale strengthening effect are foundational phenomena in the nanotribology of atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) materials, yet their sub-nanoscale origins and load-dependent evolution remain insufficiently ...

A Literature Review of Approaches for Stick-Slip Vibration Suppression in Oilwell Drillstring

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
Stick-slip vibration presents one of the main problems in the quality of drilling performance limiting tool life and productivity. This type of vibration can be suppressed by means of many approaches, such as varying parameters and use of control tools ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Resolving the Cu(bdc) Conundrum: Identifying Non‐Porous Packing of Prototypical Coordination‐Network Thin Films Combining Advanced Diffraction Techniques and Computational Modelling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Cu(bdc) forms prototypical MOF thin films for which a multitude of not fully satisfactory structural models have been suggested. Combining rotating grazing‐incidence diffraction and X‐ray reflectivity on two complementary samples with density‐functional theory, we first discard the previously suggested models and then identify a non ...
