Design of stiffened composite panels with a fracture constraint
Computers & Structures, 1985An automated procedure for designing minimum-weight composite panels subject to a local damage constraint under tensile loading was developed. A finite element program based on linear elastic fracture mechanics for calculating stress intensity factors (SIF) was incorporated in the design cycle.

Impact behaviour of omega stiffened composite panels
Progress in Aerospace Sciences, 2016The mechanical response of reinforced composite structures under impact loads is particularly challenging owing to the rising of multiple and simultaneous failure phenomena. Indeed, low velocity impacts may produce intra-laminar damages, like fibre breakage and matrix cracking, and inter-laminar damages, such as delaminations and skin-stringer ...

Uncertainty analysis of stiffened composite panels
Composite Structures, 2001A study is made of the variability in the nonlinear response of three stiffened composite panels associated with variations in their geometric and material parameters. The three panels have a cylindrical skin with either four or five T-shaped stiffeners. Two of the panels have a notch and the third panel has a circular cutout.

Impact Identification in Composite Stiffened Panels
Key Engineering Materials, 2012A number of small mass and large mass impacts on a sensorised aircraft stiffened panel were numerically simulated. Sensor signals and the contact force history were recorded during each impact. A significant difference was noticed between the small mass and large mass impacts with respect to the contact force.

Calculation of stresses in stiffened composite panels
AIAA Journal, 1988A methodology for computing the stresses at the interface between the skin and stiffener in stiffened composite panels is described. The methodology is based on finite-element analyses and an elasticity solution. The finite-element analyses are standard, while the elasticity solution is based on eigenvalue expansions of the stress functions.

Composite repairs to rib stiffened panels
Composite Structures, 1999Abstract There are several methods available for obtaining a first estimate for the design of composite repairs to cracks in thin metallic skins. One approach uses analytical formulae, which build on an analogy with the problem of a bonded symmetric lap joint (Rose LRF. An application of the inclusion analogy for bonded reinforcements.

Stiffener/skin interactions in pressure-loaded composite panels
AIAA Journal, 1986The effects of flange thickness, web height, and skin stiffness on the strain distributions in the skin-stiffener interface region of pressure-loaded graphite-epoxy panels, stiffened by the type-T stiffener, were examined at pressure levels up to one atmosphere.

Buckling Analysis of Stiffened Composite Panels
2008In view of high specific strength and specific modulus, stiffened composite panels have been widely used in modern engineering fields. However, stiffened composite panels can develop buckling failure under service conditions as they are generally very thin.

Research of the Stability of Stiffened Composite Panel
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Composite stiffened plate structure is widely used in aviation, aerospace and marine areas , in order to ensure the structural reliability ,stability analysis is absolutely necessary. The finite element models are established. In this paper, subspace method and arc-length method are applied to analyze the stability of stiffened panel structure, both ...

Flutter of stiffened composite panels considering the stiffener’s base as a structural element
Composite Structures, 2016Abstract Flutter in aeronautical panels is a type of self-excited oscillation which can occur during supersonic flights. At the flutter point the vibrations of the panel become unstable and increase significantly in time. This manuscript presents a semi-analytical model taking into account the stiffener’s base effects, in order to predict the ...
