Vibration of Stiffened Plates

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1964
SummaryThis paper presents a general procedure for calculating the natural frequencies of rectangular plates continuous over identical and equally spaced elastic beams which are simply-supported at their ends. Arbitrary boundary conditions are permissible on the other two edges of the plate.

Elastic Buckling of Stiffened Plates

Journal of the Structural Division, 1972
The purpose of this paper is to present results which may be used to develop design requirements for stiffened plates with aspect ratios greater than or equal to one subjected to compression and shear.

Vibration analysis of stiffened plates

Computers & Structures, 1994
Abstract A spline compound strip method has been presented for the free vibration analysis of stiffened plates. The plate was discretized and modelled as strip elements. The displacement function of a strip element has been expressed as the product of the conventional transverse shape functions and longitudinal cubic B-splines.

Edge cracks in stiffened plates

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1987
Abstract An analytical method for the determination of stress intensity factors in two-dimensional plane elastostatic problems is extended for the parametric study of edge cracks in stiffened panels. Two problems are studied: the case of a cracked panel reinforced with stringers and the case of two panels, connected by rivets, one of which contains a

Damped Free Vibration Response of An Adhesively Bonded Stiffened Plate with Plate-Strip Stiffeners

57th AIAA/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2016
We investigated the response of an adhesively bonded plate employing plate-strip stiffeners, unlike the rib stiffeners often investigated by researchers. Both plate and stiffeners were analyzed using the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT).

Plastic Buckling of Longitudinally Stiffened Plates

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1961
Formulas are developed which define the plastic buckling coefficients for a simply supported plate stiffened by longitudinal stiffeners and subject to uniform compression in the direction of the stiffeners. The equations are developed by consideration of the strain energy of plastic buckling.

On vibration of eccentrically stiffened plates with varying stiffener length

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1985
Results of a study of the variation of natural frequencies with respect to the length of the stiffener of a square panel clamped all along its boundary and stiffened in the middle by a concentric stiffener were recently reported [ 11. Significant increases in certain frequencies, namely those with modes symmetric about both the medians of the plate ...

Rectangular Plates with Stiffeners

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1942
The Differential Equation of the Problem and the Solution. A RECTANGULAR plate of length a with simply supported edges is reinforced by equal longitudinal ribs at equal distances b and is submitted to the action of uniformly distributed compressive forces N along the x‐axis (Fig. 1).
