Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Evaluation of Ultrasound Elastography Combined With Chi-Square Automatic Interactive Detector in Reducing Unnecessary Fine-Needle Aspiration on TIRADS 4 Thyroid Nodules

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
BackgroundConventional ultrasound diagnosis of thyroid nodules (TNs) had a high false-positive rate, resulting in many unnecessary fine-needle aspirations (FNAs).ObjectiveThis study aimed to establish a simple algorithm to reduce unnecessary FNA on ...

Durotactic control within a 3D collagen matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
INTRODUCTION: While matrix stiffness has been implicated in cell adhesion and migration, most studies have focused on the effects of substrate stiffness in 2D. This work describes a novel continuous stiffness gradient model for studying such processes in

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Quantification of the stiffness and strength of cadherin ectodomain binding with different ions

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2014
The stiffness and strength of extracellular (EC) region of cadherin are proposed to be two important mechanical properties both for cadherin as a mechanotransductor and for the formation of cell-cell adhesion.

Effects of Self-Myofascial Release Using a Foam Roller on the Stiffness of the Gastrocnemius-Achilles Tendon Complex and Ankle Dorsiflexion Range of Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Increased muscle stiffness can contribute to reduced range of motion (ROM) and impaired function. Reduced ankle dorsiflexion ROM has been associated with increased injury risk in the ankle.
