Stigma Receptivity Is Controlled by Functionally Redundant MAPK Pathway Components in Arabidopsis [PDF]
Summary In angiosperms, the process of pollination relies on species-specific interaction and signaling between the male (pollen) and female (pistil) counterparts where the interplay between several pollen and stigma proteins decides the fate of the pollen.

A rapid and simple procedure to determine stigma receptivity [PDF]
We describe a new method to determine stigma receptivity by using a Peroxtesmo esterase indicator paper liquid (one paper+1 ml water). This technique enables the researcher to check instantly the receptivity of various types of stigmas and to locate the receptive area.

Stigma structure and receptivity in Bromeliaceae
Scientia Horticulturae, 2016Abstract Morphoanatomical characterization of the stigma of different species has provided important data for the taxonomy of Bromeliaceae. Stigma receptivity is fundamental for the effectiveness of reproduction in plants, and the production of hybrids by controlled pollination. This study aimed to characterize stigma morphoanatomy of 18 Bromeliaceae

Pollen viability and stigma receptivity of Cistanche deserticola
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2011OBJECTIVE To study the characteristics of pollen viability and stigma receptivity of C. deserticola and provide theory basis for seed production and breeding of C. deserticola. METHOD Different physiological measurement methods were applied to evaluate pollen viability and stigma receptivity. The results of different methods were compared with the seed

The Receptive Surface of the Angiosperm Stigma
Annals of Botany, 1977This paper reports upon a study of the characteristics of the receptive surfaces of angiosperm stigmas, covering almost 1000 species of about 900 genera of some 250 families. In both monocotyledons and dicotyledons the major subdivision is into those stigmas which are 'dry' at maturity, having a hydrated, proteinaceous extracuticular layer or pellicle ...

Pollen viability and stigma receptivity in Lilium during anthesis
Euphytica, 2017Pollen viability and stigma receptivity are prerequisites for successful pollination and seed set in flowering plants. In this study, the pollen viabilities and stigma receptivities of nine Lilium genotypes (six cultivars and three species native to China) were assayed by in vitro pollen germination and the benzidine-H2O2 method, respectively.

Stigma-surface Esterase Activity and Stigma Receptivity in Some Taxa Characterized by Wet Stigmas
Annals of Botany, 1981Stigma-surface esterase activity and stigma receptivity through a sequence of developmental stages of the pistil have been studied in four taxa characterized by having wet stigmas-Petunia hybrida, Nicotiana tabacum, Crinum defixum and Amaryllis vittata. The style is solid in the first two and hollow in the latter two taxa.

Effective pollination period as related to stigma receptivity in apricot
Scientia Horticulturae, 1992Abstract In the warm climatic conditions of the south Mediterranean area, where mean temperatures during blooming period are as high as 15–18°C and maximum temperatures frequently exceed 25°C the effective pollination period (EPP) of apricot cultivars is extremely short.
