Forward stimulated Brillouin scattering
Journal of Applied Physics, 1988Forward stimulated Brillouin scattering characteristics are formulated by an extension of the current theory. Angle-dependent gain functions are derived in collimated and focused pump geometries. The time of growth for forward scattering based on the derived gain functions is calculated by comparing the forward and backward intensity time scales.

Stimulated Brillouin Scattering: Then and Now
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is embedded today in a variety of optical systems: advanced lasers, sensors, microwave signal processors, scientific instrumentation and opto-mechanical systems. Optical fibers and micro-resonators generate useful SBS.

Enhanced stimulated Brillouin scattering
Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1986It is well known that the amplitude of a laser radiation field in the vicinity of a metallic microparticle can be dramatically amplified at the surface plasma frequency. This feature of microparticle electrodynamics arises from a resonant coupling of the laser radiation field to the electronic plasma mode and has been utilized as a means to greatly ...

Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Liquids
Physical Review, 1966Stimulated Brillouin scattering in various liquids is examined in a transverse resonator and in a backward-wave oscillator. Comparison with elementary resonator theory indicates that the data are in satisfactory agreement for many liquids. The theoretical picture for the unstable backward-wave configuration is complicated by phonon transit-time effects,
