Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Thermally stimulated H emission and diffusion in hydrogenated amorphous silicon
We report first principles ab initio density functional calculations of hydrogen dynam- ics in hydrogenated amorphous silicon. Thermal motion of the host Si atoms drives H diffusion, as we demonstrate by direct simulation and explain with simple models ...

The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

AMMONIA MOLECULAR BEAM EPITAXY OF AlGaN HETEROSTRUCTURES ON SAPPHIRE SUBSTRATES
In order to develop a technology for the growth of Al(Ga)N-based heterostructures, the effect of different molecular beam epitaxy growth conditions on the properties of AlN and AlGaN layers was studied. The optimal conditions for the growth of AlN buffer

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Room-temperature lasing action in GaN quantum wells in the infrared 1.5 micron region
Large-scale optoelectronics integration is strongly limited by the lack of efficient light sources, which could be integrated with the silicon complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology.

Life‐Threatening Bradycardia in Anti‐NMDA‐Receptor Encephalitis and a Novel Use for Permanent Pacing
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis (pNMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder that can cause severe autonomic dysfunction, including symptomatic bradycardia and asystole. Dysautonomia can last for years, making it very challenging to manage.

Moving mirrors as analogue sources of Hawking radiation from black holes have been explored extensively but less so with cosmological particle creation (CPC), even though the analogy between the dynamical Casimir effect (DCE) and CPC based on the ...
