Stimulated Raman scattering in fibers in the ultraviolet
Optics Letters, 1983Efficient stimulated Raman scattering at 342 nm was obtained in multimode fused-silica fibers pumped by a conventional N(2) laser. The values of the intensity-dependent absorption coefficient and the Raman-gain coefficient were determined: alpha(1), = 3.3x10(-6) cm/MW and gamma = 2.9 x 10(-11) cm/W, respectively.

A three-beam femtosecond stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) scheme is formulated and demonstrated to simultaneously induce two different SRS processes associated with Raman-active modes in the same molecule. Two SR gains involving a common pump pulse are coupled and compete: As one of the Stokes beam intensities increases, the other SRS is selectively ...

Stimulated Raman scattering in nanostructured materials
2015 IEEE 15th International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE-NANO), 2015Nonlinear optics at nanoscale is an intriguing research field of great significance from both fundamental and applicative point of view. In this paper, the phenomena of stimulated Raman scattering in both nanostructured silica based materials and nanostructured silicon based materials are investigated and discussed.

Reassessment of the theory of stimulated Raman scattering
Physical Review B, 1985A modification of the standard theory of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) first proposed by Sparks (1974, 1975) is analyzed and shown to incorporate a possibly important physical effect; however, its original formulation is incorrect. The analysis is based on an exact numerical integration of the coupled equations of the modified theory, the results ...

Transient solitons in stimulated Raman scattering
Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1988The normalized equations describing transient stimulated Raman scattering are1,2where A1and A2represent the pump and Stokes waves, Xis the material excitation, ϵis its damping rate, and χ and τare normalized distance and time. One readily finds that K(τ)=|A1(χ, τ)|2+ |A2(χ, τ)|2is constant for all χ. If, in addition, I ∞ =

Abstract The gain of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is based on the fact that the photon degeneracy of the pump beam (n¯p) and that of the scattering beam (n¯s) can be both >> 1, and therefore the latter can be increased exponentially. The SRS can be generated in both forward and backward directions.

Continuous-wave stimulated Raman scattering
Optics Letters, 1991We report what is to our knowledge the first observation of continuous-wave stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). Both forward and enhanced backward SRS were observed in liquids, and the large spectral frequency shift between pump and probe makes signal detection easy.

Stimulated Raman scattering in the presence of stimulated Brillouin scattering
The Physics of Fluids, 1988Particle simulations of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) are presented in which stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) also occurs. Frequency spectra of forward and backscattered light are compared for various ratios of ion mass to electron mass. SBS is seen to weaken the SRS backscattering in all cases in which the plasma density profile includes the ...

The buildup of stimulated Raman scattering from spontaneous Raman scattering
Optics Communications, 1981Abstract We present a quantum electrodynamic theory which shows for the first time how stimulated Raman scattering builds up, both spatially and temporally, from spontaneous Raman scattering. We analytically solve operator Maxwell-Bloch equations to find the Stokes field operator, and thus the Stokes intensity, for both monochromatic and broad-band ...

Exact solutions of the stimulated-Raman-scattering equations
Physical Review A, 1991Exact analytic solutions of the stimulated-Raman-scattering equations are obtained using group-theoretical methods. Special attention is devoted to a self-similar solution in terms of the fifth Painlevé transcendent 𝑃ᵥ. Its asymptotic behavior is established and shown to agree with experimental data and with earlier numerical calculations.
