Smart‐Release Ion‐Exchanged Ca‐Montmorillonite for Corrosion Protection of AA2024 Aluminium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Smart‐release anticorrosion pigments based on Zn‐ and Mn‐modified montmorillonite were developed by ion exchange of Ca‐montmorillonite and evaluated for the protection of AA2024 aluminium alloy in artificial acid rain. Both modified pigments provided effective corrosion inhibition, with Zn‐modified montmorillonite (Zn‐MMT) achieving an inhibition ...

Bidirectional Soft Catalysts for Improved Power Performance of Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft polymer‐metal catalyst is integrated into the binder to create a catalytically active microenvironment that accelerates bidirectional sulfur redox kinetics in lithium‐sulfur batteries. A model polyvinyl alcohol‐Cu catalyst enables high areal capacities at demanding current densities and stable cycling in pouch‐cell prototypes at 0.5 C, achieving

Numerical modeling of temperature fields during friction stir welding of the AA5083 aluminum alloy

open access: yesFrontier Materials & Technologies, 2023
One of the important parameters ensuring the production of a welded joint without continuity defects during friction stir welding is the provision of the required temperature in the metal bonding zone.

Thermochemical Core–Shell Architecturing of Si‐SWCNT Composites for High‐Performance Li‐Ion Battery Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thermochemically engineered core–shell Si architecture is developed through the controlled evolution of a SWCNT‐coated Mg2Si precursor. The process simultaneously generates a nanoporous Si shell for strain accommodation and Li+ transport, a chemically anchored SiC interfacial layer for robust mechanical and electrical coupling, and a Mg‐containing Si

Strengthening Constitutive Motifs in Isotropic Fibrous Hydrogel for Exceptional Damage Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An orientation‐free strategy is reported for fabricating damage‐resistant hydrogels by strengthening constitutive motifs in isotropic fibrous (IF) networks. Through nonsolvent quenching followed by salting‐out, IF networks are generated and their multiscale constituents are subsequently reinforced, yielding dense and crystalline isotropic nanofiber ...

High‐Performance Bio‐Based Epoxy Vitrimers and Composites: Synergizing Robustness and Reprocessability via Fractional Free Volume Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, two bio‐based epoxy monomers were designed to tune the dynamic network of a rigid–flexible hybrid epoxy through free‐volume control, achieving a synergy among high free volume, high cross‐linking density, and segmental mobility while balancing strength and toughness.

THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF FRICTION STION STIR WELDING FOR COPPER ALLOY

open access: yesAl-Qadisiyah Journal for Engineering Science, 2013
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient. In particular, it can be used to join highstrength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by ...

Decoupling Quasi‐Solid‐State Sulfur Conversion Mechanisms in Weakly Solvating and Locally High Concentration Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Weakly solvating CME–TTE and localized high‐concentration G2–TTE electrolytes redirect lithium–sulfur chemistry toward quasi‐solid‐state conversion through distinct coordination environments. Molecular dynamics and multimodal electrochemical and spectroscopic measurements show that G2–TTE couples multidentate solvent coordination, anion participation ...

Welding defects at friction stir welding

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2015
The paper presents an overview of different types of defects at friction stir welding. In order to explain the reasons for their occurrence a short theoretical background of the process is given first. The main emphasis is on the parameters that influence the process. An energy supply based division of defects into three disjoint groups was used.

Cyclic Processability of Functional Liquid Crystalline Epoxy Networks via Dynamic Ester Bonding

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This work reports the successful reprocessing of liquid crystal epoxy networks through two distinct modes—welding of clean breaks and reconstitution from shredded material—without significant loss of functionality. Thermal and mechanical characterization shows stability in the shape memory behavior and glass transition temperature over multiple ...
