Effect of stitch density and stitch thread thickness on damage progression and failure characteristics of stitched composites under out-of-plane loading

Composites Science and Technology, 2013
Abstract In this paper, the damage progression and failure characteristics of stitched composites under out-of-plane loading are experimentally investigated. Test specimens, stitched with various stitch densities and stitch thread thicknesses, are studied using quasi-static indentation test.

Interferometer reference error suppression by the high-overlapping-density phase-stitching algorithm

Applied Optics, 2014
The subaperture stitching interferometer is a flexible testing device that measures either high-numerical-aperture or large aperture optics without the requirement of additional auxiliary optics. In the measurement, the interferometer reference optics error can contaminate the stitched phase of the complete tested optics and reduce measurement accuracy.

Impact of stitch density on seam strength, seam elongation, and seam efficiency

International Journal of Consumer Studies, 2005
AbstractThe study investigated seam efficiency, seam strength and seam elongation of three stitch densities for a premium muslin. The tensile and seam strength were tested on INSTRON. Seam efficiency was calculated in percentages and t‐test and Analysis of Variance (anova) were used to test the hypotheses.

The Self-Calibration of High Overlapping Density Subaperture Stitching Interferometry

Classical Optics 2014, 2014
The high overlapping density stitching interferometry not only can measure the tested surface but also precisely calibrate the reference errors of the interferometer in a single phase stitching process. The simulation results prove the feasibility.

Endothelial cell density and corneal pachometry after no-stitch, small-incision cataract surgery

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1992
In a prospective study we used the change of central and peripheral (12 o'clock-position) corneal thickness (CT) after no-stitch small incision cataract surgery as a parameter of tissue traumatisation (33 eyes) and compared the values to a series of cases (32 eyes) with conventional 3.5 mm scleral step incision.

Micromechanical Strength Modeling and Investigation of Stitch Density Effects on 3D Orthogonal Composites

Journal of Composite Materials, 2009
A 3D orthogonal woven S2-glass composite is investigated using finite element micromechanics to characterize the stiffness and the strength. The methods are applied to a targeted parametric investigation of the effects of stitch density on strength properties and potential benefits of through-thickness reinforcement, such as resistance to transverse ...

The Influence of Knitted Fabrics’ Structure on Adequate Stitch Type and Density for Performance apparel

International Design Journal, 2015
Performance apparel is playing a significant role in industry for special end use applications. One of the applications involves the formation of yarns to be made into performance fabrics through knitting or weaving. Performance CoolMax/Micro Modal, knitted fabrics, for purposes of this paper, are defined as fabrics used in specialty apparel, that are ...

Experimental characterization and morphology investigation of composites based on high‐density and low‐density polyethylene reinforced with non‐crimp‐stitched glass fabrics

Polymer Composites, 2008
AbstractIn this study, the effects of matrix material on mechanical properties were investigated in glass fiber reinforced high‐density and low‐density polyethylene composites. Also, in order to compare the fiber configuration effect on anisotropic behavior, unidirectional and biaxial glass fabrics were used as reinforcement material.

Impact of fabric Wave and Density on Thread Slippage in Stitched Seam

2012
Slippage in the stitched seam has a direct impact on the quality of the garment, and applies to a change in the spacing between individual warp or weft threads in the seam area which occurs after prolonged load action on the fabric. The allowed space between the warp threads or weft threads covered by the seam and the first adjacent thread outside the ...
