The distribution of the time‐duration of stochastic duels

Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1965
AbstractThe Theory of Stochastic Duels is extended by considering the distribution of time‐to‐completion of the fundamental duel. The model has fixed kill probabilities and either random or fixed time between rounds fired. Time‐limitation is included. Special cases and examples are worked out.

Stochastic duels with multiple hits and limited ammunition supply

Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1983
AbstractAncker's stochastic duels with limited ammunition supply are extended to cases where a kill is obtained through repetitive multiple hits with two firing modes, single‐shot firing and pattern firing. Examples with negative exponential firing time and geometric ammunition supply are given.

The stochastic duel with time‐dependent hit probabilities

Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, 1984
AbstractThe fundamental stochastic duel considers two opponents who fire at each other at either random continuous or fixed‐time intervals with a constant hit probability on each round fired. Each starts with an unloaded weapon, unlimited ammunition, and unlimited time. The first to hit wins.

Stochastic Duels with Varying Single-Shot Kill Probabilities

Operations Research, 1967
This paper deals with the evaluation of the probability of winning for a duelist when the single-shot kill probability is assumed to depend upon its position in the sequence of the firing pattern. A few examples are discussed.

The One-On-One Stochastic Duel. Part III

1980
Abstract : This report is the second and final half of a project to exhaustively review the literature of one-on-one stochastic duels. This part contains a comprehensive compendium of all results contained in papers which were previously listed in the annotated bibliography of the preceding report.

The Status of Developments in the Theory of Stochastic Duels—II

Operations Research, 1967
This paper contains a brief outline of the history and the principal features of the Theory of Stochastic Duels, as well as the major analytical results to date. Areas for future research and possible fields of application are also considered. The connection with other models of combat, such as Lanchester's equations and games of strategy, is ...
