Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Optimal stocking density for dual-purpose winter wheat production

open access: yes, 2003
Dual-purpose winter wheat production is an important economic enterprise in the southern Great Plains of the United States. Because of the complex interactions involved in producing wheat grain and beef gain from a single crop, stocking density is an ...

Effect of stocking density on the performance of growing rabbits

open access: yesBiotemas, 2007
This experiment evaluated the effect of an increase in stocking density on the performance of growing rabbits. Eighty New Zealand White rabbits were used in an entirely randomized experimental design with four treatments and four repeats. The evaluated densities were: 4.16, 8.33, 12.5 and 16.67 rabbits/m2. Weight gain, feed consumption, food conversion,

Effect of Heat Stress and Stocking Density on Growth Performance, Breast Meat Quality, and Intestinal Barrier Function in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
Simple Summary There is limited information on the interactive effects of heat stress (HS) and stocking density (SD) on broiler chickens. Our results indicated that both HS and high SD decreased broiler performance.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Effect of stocking density on growth performance of juvenile Amur Sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii)

open access: yes, 2011
Experiments were carried out with juvenile Amur sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii Brandt) including two size classes [small sized (SS) and large sized (LS)] to study the effect of stocking density on the growth when reared in indoor tanks.
