ACOT4 and ACOT6 Activate Akt-mTOR Pathway and Inhibit Calcium Oxalate-Induced Renal Tubular Cell Injury

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research
Introduction: Kidney stone caused by calcium oxalate (CaOx) is a chronic kidney disease. Acyl-coenzyme A thioesterases (ACOTs) serve as the key regulators of fatty acid metabolism.

Patient‐Derived 3D Heart‐On‐a‐Chip Model of Dilated Cardiomyopathy With Embedded Bead‐Based Mapping of Tissue Contractility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A heart‐on‐a‐chip model of dilated cardiomyopathy is developed from patient‐derived induced pluripotent stem cells. The model recapitulates key disease phenotypes and enables functional assessment through integrated bead‐based tracking and pillar deflection measurements.

Mechanotransduction of Magnetically Applied Forces Leads to Mechanical Stiffening of Platelet‐Rich Plugs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A microfluidic device with magnetic microposts was used to assess platelet mechanobiology. The oscillatory actuation of posts with embedded iron particles was dampened by the dynamic stiffening of the platelet‐rich plugs. This stiffening process increased with applied load, but inhibiting platelet activation (ASA) or myosin contractility (blebbistatin)

Patterned ELR‐Gelatin Hydrogels Enable Rapid Endothelial Monolayer Formation via Bioactive Matrix Chemistry and Surface Topography

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐ and nano‐patterned elastin‐like recombinamer (ELR) hydrogels integrate bioactive matrix chemistry with defined surface topography. The combined cues promote rapid endothelial cell capture, alignment, and monolayer formation on soft substrates.

Lignin’s Indispensable role in orchestrating seed stone formation: Insights from jujuba, peach and pear with future prospective on pitless fruits

open access: yesScientia Horticulturae
A hard endocarp (i.e., stone) inside fruit is a characteristic of drupe fruits such as jujube, peach, mango, etc. Hard stone significantly affects the quality and downstream processing of fruits.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

ALDH5A1-deficient iPSC-derived excitatory and inhibitory neurons display cell type specific alterations

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease
Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADHD) is a neurometabolic disorder caused by ALDH5A1 mutations presenting with autism and epilepsy. SSADHD leads to impaired GABA metabolism and results in accumulation of GABA and γ-hydroxybutyrate (GHB),
