RNA virus attenuation by codon pair deoptimisation is an artefact of increases in CpG/UpA dinucleotide frequencies [PDF]
Mutating RNA virus genomes to alter codon pair (CP) frequencies and reduce translation efficiency has been advocated as a method to generate safe, attenuated virus vaccines.

A Universal Protein Ladder for Standardization of Diverse FRET Assays
Translating FRET measurements from in vitro to intracellular environments requires universal benchmarks. We present a modular protein ladder using TPR motifs to harmonize data across diverse platforms. This predictable calibration curve bridges single molecule FRET measurements, with cell based measurements including FLIM‐FRET.

Incorporation of Amino Acids with Long-Chain Terminal Olefins into Proteins
The increasing need for site-specific protein decorations that mimic natural posttranslational modifications requires access to a variety of noncanonical amino acids with moieties enabling bioorthogonal conjugation chemistry.

Deltacoronavirus Modulates circRNA cGLIS3 Metabolism to Evade Host Antiviral Response
This study reveals that both deltacoronavirus nucleocapsid protein and host RNA binding protein IGF2BP2 promote circular RNA GLIS3 (cGLIS3) biogenesis by binding to GLIS3 pre‐mRNA. The m6A modification‐mediated cGLIS3‐IGF2BP2 interaction weakens RNase L‐mediated degradation of cGLIS3 while facilitates a ubiquitin‐dependent degradation of IGF2BP2, thus ...

Stop codon polymorphisms in the human SLC9A1 gene disrupt or compromise na+/H+ exchanger function
The NHE1 isoform of the mammalian Na+/H+ exchanger is a ubiquitous plasma membrane protein that regulates intracellular pH in mammalian cells by removing one intracellular proton in exchange for one extracellular sodium. Deletion of the NHE1 gene (SLC9A1)

A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

Unexpected correlations between gene expression and codon usage bias from microarray data for the whole Escherichia coli K-12 genome [PDF]
Escherichia coli has long been regarded as a model organism in the study of codon usage bias (CUB). However, most studies in this organism regarding this topic have been computational or, when experimental, restricted to small datasets; particularly poor

TED1 Promotes the Assembly of SCFD3‐D14‐D53 to Reinforce Strigolactone Signaling in Rice
This study identifies TED1 as a positive regulator of strigolactones (SL) signaling in rice. The ted1 mutants display dwarfism and increased tillering with significantly reduced SLs sensitivity. Through its longer C‐terminal region, TED1 interacts with D53 and D14 to promote the assembly of SCFD3‐D14‐D53, thereby facilitating the efficient ...

Scheme of the KLF9/WTAP/YTHDF2/m6A/CSF1R regulatory axis in osteoclastogenesis and estrogen‐deficient osteoporosis. WTAP‐mediated m6A modification of Csf1r mRNA governs osteoclastogenesis via a YTHDF2‐mediated pathway. Pathological upregulation of KLF9 drives Wtap transcription, leading to increased m6A deposition on the 3’‐UTR of Csf1r mRNA.

In the received wisdom of molecular biology, stop codons, UAA, UAG, and UGA, are inviolable signals: The full stops at which the ribosome releases its nascent polypeptide and dissociates from the messenger RNA (mRNA).
