Sedimentation in Storage Tank Structures

open access: yes, 1994
Although storage tanks provide an effective means of reducing the magnitude and frequency of combined sewer overflow discharges, and thereby of alleviating urban watercourse pollution, poorly designed storage structures frequently suffer from maintenance

Collective blinking of upconversion emission in lanthanide-doped nanocrystals

open access: yesPhotoniX
Fluorescence blinking, often regarded as a limitation for stable emitters, can enable super-resolution localization microscopy and serve as a versatile reporter of the photophysical states of quantum emitters and their interactions with local environment.

Stabilizing High-Nickel Cathodes via Interfacial Hydrogen Bonding Effects Using a Hydrofluoric Acid-Scavenging Separator

open access: yesEngineering
Nickel-rich layered Li transition metal oxides are the most promising cathode materials for high-energy-density Li-ion batteries. However, they exhibit rapid capacity degradation induced by transition metal dissolution and structural reconstruction ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Effectiveness of three different storage structures and curing process for the storage of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) in Ghana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Three different storage structures and two curing processes for the storage of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) were studied at the CSIR-Food Research Institute, Accra. Sweet potato roots initially cured under warm(30-35 °C) and very humid (90-95% relative

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Lateral pressure effects on… hay wafer storage structures

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1964
Storage facilities being constructed or remodeled to contain hay wafers rather than bales, must have walls designed to withstand the increased lateral pressures created by the greater density and flowability of the wafers.
