PCR‐based species identification tools for wireworms (Coleoptera: Elateridae) of economic importance in Canada

Species‐specific PCR primers and PCR‐based assays were designed for the identification of 15 economically important and difficult to distinguish wireworm pests in Canada. PCR specificity testing and performance assessments confirm the accuracy of the assays.

The first report of M918L (super‐kdr) and L932F voltage‐gated sodium channel mutations in the English grain aphid (Sitobion avenae)

The study has identified mutations in the voltage gated sodium channel of the English grain aphid (Sitobion avenae) at M918 and L932, which have not been previously reported in this species. Target‐site mutations and phenotypic failure in Myzus persicae against pyrethroids and carbamates in central Europe

Molecular screening of 140 field‐collected Myzus persicae aphids revealed target‐site mutations L1014F, M918L, M918T, and L932F in the sodium channel and S431F in Ace2. The M918L mutation was the primary driver of high pyrethroid (cypermethrin) resistance, while S431F served as a definitive marker for carbamate (pirimicarb) resistance.
