The Straight Bevel Gear with Equal Conjugate Curvature

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2010
Inspired from the serious plastic deformation of some gears with heavy power transmission in practical usage in metallurgical industry, we believe that there must exist some kind of gear profile which is most suitable in both the contact and bending fatigue strength.

Actual Tooth Contact Analysis of Straight Bevel Gears

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2015
Theoretically, spherical involutes are used as one of the base topographies for straight bevel gears. Actual bevel gears, however, have deviations from their intended topographies due to manufacturing errors, heat treatment deviations, and finishing processes. Measuring the physical parts with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), this study proposes a

Analysis of Pericyclic Mechanical Transmission with Straight Bevel Gears

56th AIAA/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2015
A design methodology for a Pericyclic mechanical transmission utilizing straight bevel gears has been presented. By virtue of its very high reduction ratio in a single meshing stage, the pericyclic transmission holds promise for significant transmission weight reduction compared to state-of-the-art concepts.

Mathematical Model for Face-Hobbed Straight Bevel Gears

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2012
Face hobbing, a continuous indexing and double-flank cutting process, has become the leading method for manufacturing spiral bevel gears and hypoid gears because of its ability to support high productivity and precision. The method is unsuitable for cutting straight bevel gears, however, because it generates extended epicycloidal flanks.

A Lengthwise Modification for Face-Hobbed Straight Bevel Gears

Volume 5: 25th International Conference on Design Theory and Methodology; ASME 2013 Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2013
Face hobbing has been successfully applying in manufacturing straight bevel gears using a virtual hypocycloidal straight-line mechanism. This method is a continuous indexing and double-flank cutting process, and is recognized its high productivity and precision.
