Line-Point Constraints and Robot Surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The space of rigid-body displacements that move a line so that its remains in contact with a fixed point is studied. This constraint variety is related to robot surgery where a straight, rigid cannula is inserted into the patient through a trocar.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Synthesis of high-order straight-line mechanisms

open access: yes, 2010
[[abstract]]By the application of arc-match method, synthesizing a four-bar straight-line mechanism is equivalent to finding an offset slider-crank linkage whose coupler point traces a segment approximating a circular arc.

Sample based estimation of landscape metrics; accuracy of line intersect sampling for estimating edge density and Shannon’s diversity index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A recent trend is to estimate landscape metrics using sample data and cost-efficiency is one important reason for this development. In this study, line intersect sampling (LIS) was used as an alternative to wall-to-wall mapping for estimating Shannon’s ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Beam line from straight-section 16

open access: yes, 1971
The start of a long trail. The beam line from straight-section 16, where protons are fast ejected, is seen at the point where it crosses the Linac shielding wall as it leaves the PS en route to the ...

Research of the Geometric Characteristic of Undercutting and Limit Normal Point in Gear Geometry

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2015
The undercutting phenomena and the limit normal point are two important concepts in gearing theory, design and manufacturing.Based on the different opinions about them in the current research of limit normal point and the geometry and movement ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Research on Straight-Line Extraction for Aerial Images

open access: yes, 2010
Line and plane feature can provide more information than point feature, thus 3D reconstruction based on high-level features, such as line and plane, is an important development trend in Digital Photogrammetry and Computer Vision.
