Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Effect of element Ce on the strain rate sensitivity of Mg-Zn-Zr alloy

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
Investigations into the strain rate sensitivity of magnesium (Mg) alloys represent a current research focus in materials science. However, most studies have examined strain rate sensitivity in single alloy, lacking systematic comparisons between ...

Identification of the Quasi-Static and Dynamic Behaviour of Projectile-Core Steel by Using Shear-Compression Specimens

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Armour-Piercing (AP) projectiles constitute a major threat to be considered for the design of bi-layer-armour configurations constructed using a ceramic front plate backed with a composite/metal layer. When they are not made of tungsten-carbide the cores

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Effects of the strain rate in compression of electrodeposited gold micro-pillars toward the design of MEMS components

open access: yesMicro and Nano Engineering
In this study, the strain rate dependence in yield strengths of electrodeposited gold micro-pillars is evaluated for the design of movable components in MEMS devices. The micro-pillars are fabricated from electrodeposited gold by focused ion beam system.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Compressive behavior and deformation kinetics of ultrafine grained aluminum processed by equal channel angular pressing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Smart and Nano Materials, 2017
In the present work, the uniaxial compressive mechanical proper\ties of ultrafine grained (UFG) aluminum produced by equal channel angular pressing method were investigated experimentally over a wide temperatures ranging from 77 to 473 K under both quasi-

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Rate Dependence of the Compressive Response of Ti Foams

open access: yesMetals, 2012
Titanium foams of relative density ranging from 0.3 to 0.9 were produced by titanium powder sintering procedures and tested in uniaxial compression at strain rates ranging from 0.01 to 2,000 s−1.

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...
