Characterization of Indentation-Induced Pattern Using Full-Field Strain Measurement

open access: yes, 2011
[[abstract]]In this study DIC-based strain analysis software was successfully developed and its strain resolution lies on the order of 2.3×10-4-3.1×10-4.

Strained Interpretations [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
Judges often give statutes strained interpretations. What makes an interpretation strained? What, if anything, justifies a strained interpretation? Is there always a point past which an interpretation would be too strained, or are there some interpretations which judges are entitled to adopt, whatever a statute says?

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Intermediate strain rate testing methodologies and full-field optical strain measurement techniques for composite materials characterisation

open access: yes, 2014
Two optical full-field strain measurement techniques, Digital Image Correlation and the Grid Method, are applied to characterise the strain-rate dependent constitutive behaviour of composite materials.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Physical Activity Surveillance Through Smartphone Apps and Wearable Trackers: Examining the UK Potential for Nationally Representative Sampling

open access: yesJMIR mHealth and uHealth, 2019
BackgroundSmartphones and wearable activity trackers present opportunities for large-scale physical activity (PA) surveillance that overcome some limitations of questionnaires or researcher-administered devices.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

ROCK: A Spreadsheet-Based Program for the Generation and Analysis of Random Oligonucleotide Primers Used in PCR

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2001
Oligonucleotide primers used to amplify target DNA regions via PCR should meet certain design criteria to maximize the potential for efficient priming.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,
