Automated strain-gauge plethysmograph
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1978An automatic 2-channel strain-gauge plethysmograph, based on an absolute resistance measurement technique, will be described in the paper. This device is compact, easy to use, provides inherent self-calibration for any gauge and any length of that gauge, automatically performs the measured cycle, and generates annotated graphical printouts of the ...

MANY new developments have grown out of the vibration recorder1 originally described before the AIEE in 1926. One of the first of these developments resulted in apparatus for recording transient pressures electrically.4 This has been used to measure transient pressures in switchgear apparatus, transformers, water wheels, steam turbines, gasoline ...

General features of the use of spiral grids in the Moiré technique are analysed theoretically. Equations of various types of Moiré fringe patterns are presented, which relate to superposition of circular, spiral, and parallel‐line grids.Goniometric compensation is proposed on Moiré fringes.

Mercury strain gauge plethysmography offers a simple method to determine the presence or absence of arterial obstruction. Its major value lies in localizing and in establishing the extent and severity of arterial disease. Thus it is helpful in selecting patients for aortography and reconstructive surgical procedures.
