A continuous/discontinuous Galerkin formulation for a strain gradient-dependent damage model

open access: yes, 2004
The numerical solution of strain gradient-dependent continuum problems has been hindered by continuity demands on the basis functions. The presence of terms in constitutive models that involve gradients of the strain field means that the $C^0$ continuity

Forced Nonlinear Vibrations in a Smart Magneto-Viscoelastic Multiscale Composite Nanobeam in a Humid Thermal Environment

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2023
In this paper, we study forced harmonic waves in a magneto-electro-viscoelastic (MEV) nanobeam embedded in a viscoelastic foundation using nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory.

The Flow Theory of Mechanism-Based Strain Gradient Plasticity

open access: yes, 2003
The flow theory of mechanism-based strain gradient (MSG) plasticity is established in this paper following the same multiscale, hierarchical framework for the deformation theory of MSG plasticity in order to connect with the Taylor model in dislocation ...

Contact of Rough Surfaces: An Incremental Model Accounting for Strain Gradient Plasticity

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
In the contact of rough surfaces, most contact patches are at the scale of micrometers, and thus, their contact deformation can be dominated by the size-dependent plasticity. In this paper, we propose a new strategy to analyze the role of strain gradient

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Strain gradient theory with couple stress for crystalline solids

open access: yes, 2001
A new phenomenological strain gradient theory for crystalline solid is proposed. It fits within the framework of general couple stress theory and involves a single material length scale Ics. In the present theory three rotational degrees of freedom omega

Simulation of instabilities in non-softening Drucker-Prager plasticity

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
The problem of instability and strain localization in a hardening non-associative Drucker-Prager plasticity theory is analyzed. The classical and gradient-enhanced versions of the theory are reviewed and instability indicators are summarized.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Strain gradient theory based on a new framework of non-local model

open access: yes, 2010
A new framework of non-local model for the strain energy density is proposed in this paper. The global strain energy density of the representative volume element is treated as a non-local variable and can be obtained through a special integral of the ...
