The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Mechanical Properties and Strain Hardening Behaviour of Magnesium Alloys and Composites
Selected magnesium alloys and composites with magnesium alloy matrix were deformed at temperatures between room temperature and 300 °C at constant strain rate. The testing temperature influences significantly the deformation behaviour of the al/loys. The

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

The effect of strain rate sensitivity on the prediction of the formability of advanced high strength steels [PDF]
This paper analyzes the effect of strain rate sensitivity on the prediction of formability of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS). Three conventional dual-phase (DP) steels, 590DP, 980DP and 1180DP, and two third-generation AHSS grades with ultimate ...

THE MATHEMATICAL FORM OF MATERIAL CONSTITUTIVE LAWS APPLICABLE FOR MODELING OF METAL PLASTIC BEHAVIOR IN SIMULATION OF MACHINING [PDF]
Among the effects of strain hardening, strain-rate hardening, and temperature softening, it has been long argued about which effect is predominant in governing the material flow stress in machining. In addition, there is a belief that the temperature and

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Hardening Behavior Characterization of Dual Phase Steels
The requirements for higher passenger safety, improved fuel economy and weight reduction in automobile industry necessitates the usage of advanced high strength steel AHSS grades. Dual phase DP steels are the most widely used one among AHSS.

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
