Development of a D-xylose fermenting and inhibitor tolerant industrial Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain with high performance in lignocellulose hydrolysates using metabolic and evolutionary engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: The production of bioethanol from lignocellulose hydrolysates requires a robust, D-xylose-fermenting and inhibitor-tolerant microorganism as catalyst.

Experimental study on granite and the determination of its true strain-rate effect

open access: yes, 2015
To accurately determine the true strain-rate effect of granite in split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) tests, systematic experimental studies from quasi-static to dynamic loading on the same batch of granite samples is required.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Experimental study on dynamic characteristics and energy dissipation of weakly cemented rock-like materials

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
The structural stability of coal seam roof rock mass under dynamic load in engineering practice is directly influenced by the dynamic characteristics of weakly consolidated coal measures rock.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Study on the Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Based on a 3D Microscopic Model

open access: yesBuildings
Polypropylene (PP) fibers, known for their high fracture strength, low density, and cost-effectiveness, can significantly enhance the impact resistance of concrete, making the material suitable for specialized engineering applications.

Identification de lois de comportement représentatives des conditions d’usinage pour des alliages de titane à différentes teneurs alpha/beta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Determining a material constitutive law which is representative of the extreme conditions found in the cutting zone during machining operations is a very challenging problem. In this study, dynamic shear tests, which reproduce, as faithfully as possible,

Influence of cementless hip stems on femoral cortical strain pattern depending on their extent of porous coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The extent of porous coating of cementless total hip stems is held responsible for radiological periprosthetic changes, the rate of thigh pain, and even its long-term success.
