Strain-Rate-Dependent Deformation Behavior and Mechanical Properties of a Multi-Phase Medium-Manganese Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The strain-rate-dependent deformation behavior of an intercritically annealed X6MnAl12-3 medium-manganese steel was analyzed with respect to the mechanical properties, activation of deformation-induced martensitic phase transformation, and strain ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Investigation on mechanical behaviour of ECAPed 2A12 aluminium alloy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
In the present work, the uniaxial compressive behavior of aluminum alloy processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) for 1–8 passes are investigated experimentally under both quasi-static and dynamic loading conditions via an electronic universal ...

High strain rate micro-compression for crystal plasticity constitutive law parameters identification

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Microcompression tests were performed on single crystal copper micropillars at 10−2 s−1 and 102 s−1 in the [100], [110] and [111] orientations, to provide inputs for crystal plasticity strain rate sensitive parameters inverse identification.

ANALYSIS OF THE SENSITIVITY OF VISCOELASTIC PARAMETERS AT THE STRAIN-RATE OF A THERMOPLASTIC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The behavior of thermoplastics depends on several factors, mainly time and temperature. The present work is the subject of a study of the dependence of these materials on time. The material considered in this study is a polyamide 6. The applied behavior model is represented by the Kelvin-Voigt viscoelastic mechanism with instant elasticity.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Strain-rate sensitivity of the lateral collateral ligament of the knee

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2015
The material properties of ligaments are not well characterized at rates of deformation that occur during high-speed injuries. The aim of this study was to measure the material properties of lateral collateral ligament of the porcine stifle joint in a uniaxial tension model through strain rates in the range from 0.01 to 100/s.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...
