Reply to Comment of Gazdzicki and Heinz on Strangeness Enhancement in $p+A$ and $S+A$ [PDF]
The Comment of Gazdzicki and Heinz is flawed because their assumed baryon stopping power in $pA$ is inconsistent with data and because they ignored half the analysis based on the VENUS model.

The Role of Strangeness in Astrophysics - an Odyssey through Strange Phases [PDF]
The equation of state for compact stars is reviewed with special emphasis on the role of strange hadrons, strange dibaryons and strange quark matter. Implications for the properties of compact stars are presented. The importance of neutron star data to constrain the properties of hypothetic particles and the possible existence of exotic phases in dense

Parity violating target asymmetry in electron - proton scattering [PDF]
We analyze the parity-violating (PV) components of the analyzing power in elastic electron-proton scattering and discuss their sensitivity to the strange quark contributions to the proton weak form factors.

Reconstruire à l’école, autant que possible, l’authenticité d’un passé rendu intelligible
School transmission of an intelligibility of the past is subject to all kinds of pressure in the public space, and even a real tyrannical orthodoxy. Countless actors proclaim a sententious tone that should be school history, usually in a straitjacket of ...

Jacques Derrida notes that “there can be no culture or social bond without a principle of hospitality”. But in the very definition of hospitality, strangeness is always a fundamental condition. There is no hospitality unless a stranger knocks on our door

Strangeness in Neutron Stars [PDF]
We discuss the role of strangeness on the internal constitution and structural properties of neutron stars. In particular, we report on recent calculations of hyperon star properties derived from microscopic equations of state for hyperonic matter. Next, we discuss the possibility of having a strange quark matter core in a neutron star, or the possible

Strange results from chiral soliton models
The standard collective quantization treatment of the strangeness content of the nucleon in chiral soliton models such as the Skyrmion is shown to be inconsistent with the semi-classical expansion on which the treatment is based.

Strangeness in the Nucleon on the Light-Cone [PDF]
Strange matrix elements of the nucleon are calculated within the light-cone formulation of the meson cloud model. The $Q^2$ dependence of the strange vector and axial vector form factors is computed, and the strangeness radius and magnetic moment extracted, both of which are found to be very small and slightly negative.

Strangeness -2 two-baryon systems
We derive strangeness -2 baryon-baryon interactions from a chiral constituent quark model including the full set of scalar mesons. The model has been tuned in the strangeness 0 and -1 two-baryon systems, providing parameter free predictions for the ...
