Calibration of fiber-optic gyros within strapdown inertial measurement units
Gyroscopy and Navigation, 2012The paper focuses on test bench calibration of fiber-optic gyros with linear output within strapdown inertial measurement units of various designs. The required calibration accuracy and rate table performance are defined.

This paper presents a new algorithm for condition monitoring and information management in skew strapdown inertial measurement unit. Information management includes fault detection, isolation and reconfiguration. First, Considering the error coefficients of gyros, a unified model is built for redundancy configuration.

An Observability Analysis of a GPS-Aided Geodetic Inertial Strapdown Measurement Unit
1991A widely used tool to combine data of different measurement devices in real time is the Kalman-Filter-Technique. To guarantee a uniformly asymptotically globally stable filter, the system model upon which the Kalman filter is based has to be both observable and controllable.

Transferring the Bearing Using a Strapdown Inertial Measurement Unit
1993Of all the various possibilities of using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) in surveying engineering only the determination of a reference bearing and its transfer is focussed upon in this paper. Strapdown-systems differ from the conventional gimballed platform-configuration by the use of the sensors which are sensitive to a rotation of the IMU.

Errors of a strapdown inertial navigation system (INS) based on navigation grade fiber-optic gyros (FOG) are studied, with the INS measurement unit performing modulation rotation about the axis orthogonal to the vehicle deck. The main focus is made on the problem of reducing the time of gyro in-run drifts calibration, using the GNSS data when the INS ...

Skew Redundant Inertial Measurement Unit (SRIMU) is used to ensure that flight vehicle can achieve high reliability and accuracy. There are two essential discussions for SRIMU, one is Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI), and the other is how to get more accurate navigation parameters. Currently, two parts are investigated separately.

The technique for calibration of sensors in a strapdown inertial measurement unit on a relatively coarse (1°–2°) turntable are discussed. The proposed technique is based both on direct and indirect methods. Calibration errors are estimated analytically and, also, by means of mathematical simulation.

A new gyroscope-free inertial measurement technique using nine linear accelerometers is presented in this paper. Based on the characteristic that the calculation error is divergent in time, the calculative method is optimized. With proposed iterative method, the solution of difference equations is corrected; accumulative errors and the shift of the ...
