Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Triple Combinations of AAV9-Vectors Encoding Anti-HIV bNAbs Provide Long-Term In Vivo Expression of Human IgG Effectively Neutralizing Pseudoviruses from HIV-1 Global Panel

open access: yesViruses
Anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) offer a promising approach for the treatment of HIV-1. The current paradigm for antibody therapy involves passive antibody transfer, requiring regular delivery of bNAbs in ...

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Benchmark of the Oxford Nanopore, EM-seq, and HumanMethylationEPIC BeadChip for the detection of the 5mC sites in cancer and normal samples

open access: yesFrontiers in Epigenetics and Epigenomics
Introduction: Whole-genome DNA methylation identification is crucial for profiling physiologically and clinically relevant epigenetic changes. Although there are multiple experimental methods, their accuracy, advantages, and disadvantages need to be ...
