Two-Valued Strongly Group Strategy-Proof Social Choice Functions

open access: yesGames
We present simple and direct arguments to characterize strongly group strategy-proof social choice functions whose range is of cardinality two. The underlying society is of arbitrary cardinality, and agents can be indifferent among alternatives.

An Alternate Proof of Near-Optimal Light Spanners [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretiCS
In 2016, a breakthrough result of Chechik and Wulff-Nilsen [SODA '16] established that every $n$-node graph $G$ has a $(1+\varepsilon)(2k-1)$-spanner of lightness $O_{\varepsilon}(n^{1/k})$, and recent followup work by Le and Solomon [STOC '23 ...

On-demand male contraception via acute inhibition of soluble adenylyl cyclase

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Half of all pregnancies are unintended; thus, existing family planning options are inadequate. This proof-of-concept study validates an on-demand contraception strategy for men, showing high effectiveness in quickly and temporarily reducing male ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Strategy-Proof Allocation Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
In abstract form an allocation mechanism may be thought of as a function mapping agents’ preferences into final allocations. For example, the competitive allocation mechanism calculates market-clearing prices to select a feasible, Pareto optimal, final allocation that varies with agents’ preferences.

Strategy-proof Social Choice Correspondences [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Theory, 2001
Gibbard and Satterthwaite showed that any strategy proof and Pareto optimal social choice rule is dictatorial, assuming the number \(n\) of individuals is at least two and the number of alternatives is at least three. A social choice correspondence is usually defined as an aggregation function that assigns to each \(n\)-tuple of (linear) orderings of ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Secure Implementation: Strategy-Proof Mechanisms Reconsidered [PDF]

open access: yes
Strategy-proofness, requiring that truth-telling is a dominant strategy, is a standard concept in social choice theory. However, the concept of strategy-proofness has serious drawbacks. First, announcing one's true preference may not be a unique dominant

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A new proof of Nishioka’s theorem in Mahler’s method

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2023
In a recent work [3], the authors established new results about general linear Mahler systems in several variables from the perspective of transcendental number theory, such as a multivariate extension of Nishioka’s theorem.
