Exact solutions to the Navier–Stokes equations describing stratified fluid flows [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2021
The paper considers the necessity of constructing exact solutions to the equations of dynamics of a viscous fluid stratified in terms of several physical characteristics, with density and viscosity taken as an example.

Steady thermo-diffusive shear Couette flow of incompressible fluid. Velocity field analysis [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2021
An exact solution that describes steady flow of viscous incompressible fluid with coupled convective and diffusion effects (coupled dissipative Soret and Dufour effects) has been found.

Chaos in wavy-stratified fluid-fluid flow [PDF]

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2019
We perform a nonlinear analysis of a fluid-fluid wavy-stratified flow using a simplified two-fluid model (TFM), i.e., the fixed-flux model (FFM), which is an adaptation of the shallow water theory for the two-layer problem. Linear analysis using the perturbation method illustrates the short-wave physics leading to the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI).

Near-Wall Settling Behavior of a Particle in Stratified Fluids

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
The phenomenon of near-wall particle settling in a stratified fluid is an emerging topic in the field of multiphase flow, and it is also widely found in nature and engineering applications.

Numerical Simulation of the Maneuvering Motion Wake of an Underwater Vehicle in Stratified Fluid

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
When a vehicle moves underwater, disturbance is generated and a wake remains that destroys the original free surface and produces a new wake. In order to study the mechanism and characteristics of the wave-making wake generated by the maneuvering motion ...

Two Types of Waves in a Two-Layer Stratified Fluid

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2023
Within the framework of the linear theory of small potential oscillations the article studies the structure and characteristics of internal and surface waves in a two-layer stably stratified fluid.

Motion in Stratified Fluids

open access: yesAnnual Review of Fluid Mechanics, 2023
Density stratification due to temperature or salinity variations greatly influences the flow around and the sedimentation of objects such as particles, drops, bubbles, and small organisms in the atmosphere, oceans, and lakes. Density stratification hampers the vertical flow and substantially affects the sedimentation of an isolated object, the ...

Internal Wave Diffraction by a Strip of an Elastic Plate on the Surface of a Stratified Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
The problem of internal wave diffraction by a strip of an elastic plate of finite width present on the surface of an exponentially stratified liquid is investigated in this paper.
