NUMERICAL MODELING OF TSUNAMI WAVE DESTRUCTION AND TURBULENT MIXING AT TSUNAMI WAVE CLASH ON THE SHORE

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2016
A numerical model of propagation of internal gravity waves in a stratified medium is applied to the problem of tsunami wave run-up onto a shore. In the model, the ocean and the atmosphere are considered as a united continuum in which the density varies ...

Laboratory Study of Turbulent Mass Exchange in a Stratified Fluid

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
In this study, a laboratory experiment was conducted to investigate quantitatively turbulent exchange between two quasi-homogeneous layers of equal thickness and different density (salinity), as well as the fine structure of the density transition zone ...

A Numerical Investigation of the Plunging Phenomenon of Cold Water Discharged from Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Systems

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
The main role of cold water discharged from ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) systems is that deep ocean water, which is dense and nutrient-rich, is released through the condenser and discharged into the ocean surface.

A stratified flow of a non-Newtonian Casson fluid comprising microorganisms on a stretching sheet with activation energy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
A stratified flow may be seen regularly in a number of significant industrial operations. For instance, the stratified flow regime is typically used by gas-condensate pipelines.

Thermal radiation effect on thermostatically stratified MHD fluid flow through an accelerated vertical porous plate with viscous dissipation impact

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics, 2023
This research analyzes the unsteady MHD flow via a porous medium past an accelerating vertical plate in a thermally stratified flow of fluid in the existence of viscous dissipation.

Periodic Flows in a Viscous Stratified Fluid in a Homogeneous Gravitational Field

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The density of a fluid or gas, which depends on the temperature, pressure and concentration of dissolved substances or suspended particles, changes under the influence of a large number of physical factors.

Scattering Of Internal Waves By Vertical Barrier In A Channel Of Stratified Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2015
The problem of two dimensional internal wave scattering by a vertical barrier in the form of a submerged plate, or a thin wall with a gap in an exponentially stratified fluid of uniform finite depth bounded by a rigid plane at the top, is considered in ...

Experimental modelling of hydraulic parameters for fluid flow in stratified porous media

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2023
From works in in-situ seepage through dams and laboratory experiments using Layered Heterogeneous Porous Media (LHPM), it has been noted that a refraction-like phenomenon, such as that experienced in light, affects fluids’ flowlines when crossing the ...

Hamiltonian Aspects of Three-Layer Stratified Fluids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Science, 2021
AbstractThe theory of three-layer density-stratified ideal fluids is examined with a view toward its generalization to then-layer case. The focus is on structural properties, especially for the case of a rigid upper lid constraint. We show that the long-wave dispersionless limit is a system of quasi-linear equations that do not admit Riemann invariants.
