A novel method for reduction of stray loss in induction motor
2013 IEEE Power and Energy Conference at Illinois (PECI), 2013As per IEC-60034-2-1, 2007, for a rotating electrical machine, the stray loss component increases with the decrease in the size of the machine. This causes a drastic reduction in the machine efficiency, especially in small a.c. motors. Using measures for reducing stray loss will greatly help in improving the efficiency of motors.

Effect of stray inductance on capacitive-voltage divider
Journal of Applied Physics, 1986The effect of stray circuit inductance on the response of a capacitive-voltage divider to fast-rising voltage pulses is investigated. Results obtained from the analysis of the capacitive divider’s equivalent circuit indicate an upper-frequency limit of only 1% of the natural frequency of the circuit.

Induction motor stray losses and inter-bar currents
2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008This paper presents measured bar-to-lamination contact resistance values for eight, 10 hp cast copper induction motors. The contact resistance values are compared to full load stray loss values determined using the IEEE input-output method. The stray losses generally decrease with decreasing contact resistance.

Thermal effects of stray load losses in induction machines

No.99CH36370), 2000Additional heat produced in induction machines due to stray load losses could influence the plant rating, winding insulation design, operating limit and the machine protection design. Quantifying this additional heat and stray load losses accurately and, hence, investigating the extent of some of these influences are the concerns of this paper.
