Acoustic emission characterization of sliding wear under condition of direct and inverse transformations in low-temperature degradation aged Y-TZP and Y-TZP-AL2O3

open access: yesFriction, 2018
In this research, results of the investigation of the sliding friction and wear of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (Y-TZP) and Y-TZP-Al2O3 samples preliminarily subjected to low-temperature degradation are reported.

Strength and muscle mass loss with aging process. Age and strength loss.

open access: yesMuscles Ligaments and Tendons Journal, 2019
BACKGROUND aging process is associated with changes in muscle mass and strength with decline of muscle strength after the 30(th) life year. The aim of this study was to investigate these changes in muscle mass and strength.

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Research on Suppression of Vibration Caused by Combustion Pressure Pulsation in Aircraft Engines

open access: yesShock and Vibration
Abnormal high-energy narrowband signals appeared in the aircraft engine test. By analyzing the characteristics of the vibration signals and the pressure pulsation signals in the measurement point data of the engine, it can be speculated that the abnormal

NUMERICAL STUDY OF STRESS-STRAIN LOCALIZATION IN THE TITANIUM SURFACE MODIFIED BY AN ELECTRON BEAM TREATMENT

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2016
Numerical simulation is performed to investigate the mesoscale stress-strain localization in a surface-modified commercial titanium alloy. The calculated crystalline microstructure corresponds to that observed in experiments and is accounted for in an ...

The loss of skeletal muscle strength, mass, and quality in older adults: the health, aging and body composition study.

open access: yesThe journals of gerontology. Series A, Biological sciences and medical sciences, 2006
BACKGROUND The loss of muscle mass is considered to be a major determinant of strength loss in aging. However, large-scale longitudinal studies examining the association between the loss of mass and strength in older adults are lacking.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...
