Relative Strength [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We heard a lot during the 2000 presidential campaign about the importance of working families. Each party has done its best to demonstrate that it will be the better friend to these households. Ironically, the nation's workforce development policies have

Hip External Rotator Strength Is Associated With Better Dynamic Control of the Lower Extremity During Landing Tasks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Hip external rotator strength is associated with better dynamic control of the lower extremity during landing tasks. J Strength Cond Res 30(1): 282–291, 2016—The purpose of this study was to determine the association between hip strength and lower ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

The strength of habit [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Psychology Review, 2015
Despite its presence in the psychological literature for more than one hundred years, the habit concept, the means by which habit serves to control human behaviour in daily life and the means by wh...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

The strength for line bundles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We introduce the strength for sections of a line bundle on an algebraic variety. This generalizes the strength of homogeneous polynomials that has been recently introduced to resolve Stillman's conjecture, an important problem in commutative algebra.

Wet Strength Resins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Wet strength is defined as a paper which has extraordinary resistance to rupture or disintegration when saturated with water. This definition has been interpreted as if a paper sample retains more than 15% of its dry strength when wetted, it can be ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Information gain versus coupling strength in quantum measurements [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A 85, 042330 (2012), 2012
We investigate the relationship between the information gain and the interaction strength between the quantum system and the measuring device. A strategy is proposed to calculate the information gain of the measuring device as the coupling strength is a variable.

Notions of Monad Strength

open access: yes, 2013
Over the past two decades the notion of a strong monad has found wide applicability in computing. Arising out of a need to interpret products in computational and semantic settings, different approaches to this concept have arisen.
