Slope stability analysis by using multiple shear strength model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Rainfall-induced landslide is a condition where rain water infiltrates into slope causing additional load and loss of shear strength of soil mass and eventually triggers slope failure. It is difficult to determine by applying conventional slope stability

Structural strength analysis of a rotary drum mower during harvesting

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering
A Rotary Drum Mower (RDM) is a tractor-mounted mechanism used for harvesting green fodder crops. It faces dynamic forces from rough field surfaces and cutting resistance, posing design challenges and potential failures. This study aims to present a well-

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF THE MOBILE PLATFORM UNDER ITS WORK CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2014
In this work the calculation model of mobile platform, type HAULOTTE - H1150E, and its strength analysis under work conditions have been completed. The model has been obtained by using finite element method with application of the SolidWorks package. The

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON POWER PARAMETERS OF “ROLLING - ECA-PRESSING” COMBINED PROCESS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2018
Introduction.  Power  parameters  of  the  “rolling  −  equalchannel angular pressing” (ECA) combined process are studied. The work objective is to determine forces of rolling and pressing in the deformation by the combined method.Materials and Methods ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Homogenization in strength and durability analysis of reinforced tooth filling

open access: yes, 2002
An asymptotic homogenization procedure is employed to obtain effective elastic properties of the composite tooth filling, a homogenized macro– stress field and a first approximation to the micro-stress field, from properties of the components and applied

Experimental studies of scale effects on shear strength, and deformation of rock joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The effect of scale on shear strength is studied by performing direct shear tests on different sized samples of large joints. A rubber moulding system is used to obtain impressions of the roughness from a variety of natural joint surfaces.
