Diamagnetic response of Aharonov-Bohm rings: Impurity backward scatterings

open access: yes, 2005
We report a theoretical calculation on the persistent currents of disordered normal-metal rings. It is shown that the diamagnetic responses of the rings in the vicinity of the zero magnetic field are attributed to multiple backward scatterings off the ...

A Measurement of the Interference Structure Function, R_LT, for the 12C(e,e'p) reaction in the Quasielastic Region [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The coincidence cross-section and the interference structure function, R_LT, were measured for the 12C(e,e'p) 11B reaction at quasielastic kinematics and central momentum transfer of q=400 MeV/c.

Peculiarities of calculating the cyclic strength of important threaded joints

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2002
The calculation of the strength of important threaded joints is started by defining the minimum size of the cross-section of bolts (studs). Then the static and cyclic strength is tested.

Angular Momentum Mixing in Crystalline Color Superconductivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In crystalline color superconductivity, quark pairs form at non-zero total momentum. This crystalline order potentially enlarges the domain of color superconductivity in cold dense quark matter.

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

A precise extraction of the induced polarization in the 4He(e,e'p)3H reaction

open access: yes, 2010
We measured with unprecedented precision the induced polarization Py in 4He(e,e'p)3H at Q^2 = 0.8 (GeV/c)^2 and 1.3 (GeV/c)^2. The induced polarization is indicative of reaction-mechanism effects beyond the impulse approximation.

Nutritional and Behavioral Intervention for Long‐Term Childhood Acute Leukemia Survivors With Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia (AL), and a major risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, type‐2‐diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Semiclassical calculation of oscillator-strengths

open access: yesJournal de Physique, 1989
Because they play a fundamental role in the calculation of bound electron stopping-powers, photon mean free paths and electron impact-excitation cross-sections, there is a need for a convenient method to calculate oscillator strengths for highly charged ions.

Nuclear energy density functional from chiral pion-nucleon dynamics: Isovector spin-orbit terms

open access: yes, 2003
We extend a recent calculation of the nuclear energy density functional in the systematic framework of chiral perturbation theory by computing the isovector spin-orbit terms: $(\vec \nabla \rho_p- \vec \nabla \rho_n)\cdot(\vec J_p-\vec J_n) G_{so}(k_f)+ (
