Design Methodology for Spiral-Bevel Gears of the Main Transmission of Heavy-Duty Mining Dump Trucks

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов
The paper presents a methodology for designing large-module spiral-bevel gears of the main transmission of mining dump trucks, which differs from the known ones by recommendations for optimization of gear ratios in general for the transmission and the ...

Peculiarities of calculating the cyclic strength of important threaded joints

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2002
The calculation of the strength of important threaded joints is started by defining the minimum size of the cross-section of bolts (studs). Then the static and cyclic strength is tested.

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

A precise extraction of the induced polarization in the 4He(e,e'p)3H reaction

open access: yes, 2010
We measured with unprecedented precision the induced polarization Py in 4He(e,e'p)3H at Q^2 = 0.8 (GeV/c)^2 and 1.3 (GeV/c)^2. The induced polarization is indicative of reaction-mechanism effects beyond the impulse approximation.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Study on strength prediction of grouting filling body in karst areas considering pressure filter effect

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The slurry within the grouting pressure and karst boundary constraints produces a pressure filtration effect, resulting in the initial consolidation strength of the embankment curtain stone body in karst areas being significantly higher than the natural ...

Investigation on the Sandwich System Hull Materials for Solar Powered Electrical Sport Boat [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Experiments and theoretical analyses of sandwich materials which are used in the design of a solar-powered boat are required to fully complete the analysis of the hull strength.

Modified equipartition calculation for supernova remnants. Cases \alpha =0.5 and \alpha =1

open access: yes, 2013
The equipartition or minimum-energy calculation is a well-known procedure for estimating magnetic field strength and total energy in the magnetic field and cosmic ray particles by using only the radio synchrotron emission.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
